Attorney Brigit Greeson Alvarez practices immigration law and is a member of the State Bar of California. She is admitted to practice law before the District Court for the Central District of California, the Supreme Court of California, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Attorney Alvarez graduated from Columbia University in 1998. She was named John Kluge Scholar from 1994 – 1998. Upon graduating, she worked at the Legal Aid Society in the Federal Defender Division in Brooklyn, New York. She then worked at The Audre Lorde Project organizing Latin American immigrants against police brutality.

She enrolled at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law in 2001. While a student at UCLAW, she worked for the following organizations promoting immigrant rights: Centro de Derechos Indígenas Flor y Canto, A.C. (Oaxaca, Mexico); Center for Constitutional Rights (New York, New York); the American Civil Liberties Union (Los Angeles, California); and the HIV & AIDS Legal Services Alliance (Los Angeles). Amnesty International, The Nation Institute, and the Third Wave Foundation, amongst other progressive groups, awarded her scholarships for academic achievement and student activism.

Upon graduating, she continued working to advance the human rights of immigrants. She worked for the Law Offices of Andrés Z. Bustamante, and then for the Center for Human Rights & Constitutional Law (Los Angeles) with immigrant survivors of domestic abuse. She is a member of the legal defense team for Maria Suarez, an activist working to bring awareness to and stop human trafficking in the United States. She began working for the Law Offices of Enrique Arevalo in January 2006.

Attorney Alvarez opened her firm in 2007. She speaks fluent Spanish, and is a regular volunteer for Neighborhood Legal Services, the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, Esperanza Immigrant Rights Project, and the Central American Resource Center. Attorney Alvarez is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, and a former Board member of the Latina Lawyers PAC. In 2009, she received the Honorable Benjamin Aranda III award from the Los Angeles County Bar Association for Outstanding Public Service. In 2008 and 2009, she received Certificates of Achievement as a Pro Bono Guardian from the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

Attorney Alvarez has significant experience representing immigrants before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the Board of Immigration Appeals, the Executive Office for Immigration Review (immigration court) and Citizenship and Immigration Services offices nationwide.

Most recently, Attorney Alvarez has collaborated with the National Association of Latino Elected Officials and Univision 34 to conduct various "Ya es Hora, ¡Ciudadanía!" segments on Primera Edicion and Noticias 34. Attorney Alvarez has been a featured speaker at UCLA School of Law, the Latina Lawyers Bar Association and various community organizations devoted to protecting immigrant rights.
